The highly-anticipated story expansion for Mortal Kombat 1 has been unveiled as Khaos Reigns. This new chapter takes place after the main story campaign and revolves around the invasion of Titan Havik from an alternate reality, aiming to sow chaos across all timelines.

The expansion’s cinematic narrative introduces fresh playable characters, including Noob Saibot and the now female versions of Sektor and Cyrax. These fighters are part of Kombat Pack 2 and will be accessible upon the DLC’s release on September 24.

Staying true to the series’ tradition, the latter half of Kombat Pack 2 will showcase guest fighters from popular movies. Ghostface from Scream, T-1000 from Terminator 2, and Conan the Barbarian are set to join the roster, although their arrival date is yet to be announced. Kombat Pack 2 is bundled with Khaos Reigns and is not available for separate purchase.
Animalities will be reintroduced as part of a complimentary update following the release of Khaos Reigns. Initially featured in Mortal Kombat 3, these savage finishing moves involve combatants transforming into animals to annihilate their adversaries. The trailer showcases Mileena’s ability to transform into a massive, terrifying praying mantis, while a press statement confirms that each playable character will possess an Animality (including the guest fighters from movies, adding an intriguing twist). In terms of additional free content, players will be granted the MK95 Scorpion skin inspired by his appearance in the 1995 live-action Mortal Kombat movie. Khaos Reigns will be available digitally on September 24 for all platforms where MK1 can be played. The game will be priced at $49.99 on most platforms, with the exception of the Switch version, which will cost $39.99.
